Mr. Kirk L. Somers Esq. is the general counsel and secretary for Concurrent. He is also responsible for the company’s investor relations functions. Concurrent is a leader in providing on-demand systems to the broadband industry and real-time computer systems for industry and government.
Mr. Somers has served as General Counsel since November 2001. He has over 14 years of experience in a myriad of legal matters from litigation to intellectual property to securities. Immediately prior to joining Concurrent from December 1998 to November 2001 Mr. Somers was the Assistant General Counsel for divine inc. (f.k.a. Melita International Inc.) where he was responsible for board matters SEC reporting corporate-wide development and enforcement of the company’s intellectual property portfolio as well as commercial contracts. He led the publicly traded company through a number of acquisitions culminating in the sale of the company to divine inc. in October 2001.
Prior to joining Melita Mr. Somers was a partner in the law firm of Marshall & Melhorn in Toledo Ohio practicing in the area of litigation from December 1995 to December 1998. Although he litigated a variety of cases he focused primarily on intellectual property matters. Prior private practice he was a JAG in the USAF where he tried over 40 cases.
Mr. Somers received a bachelor of arts in physics from Cornell University in 1988 and his juris doctorate from the Ohio State College of Law in 1991. |
