As an associate consultant, N. Kip Howard offers 37 years of experience in enrollment management at both private and public institutions. He consults from his position as assistant vice provost for enrollment management at the University of South Carolina. Mr. Howard currently oversees an enrollment management department with six units and more than 125 employees, providing direction for the university’s admissions and financial aid offices, among others. He has implemented a team concept among the school’s enrollment managers, improving coordination and communication. He helped develop the Capstone Scholars program for high ability students, enrolling 500 students in the program exceeding the original goal by 150 students. Mr. Howard has also improved the organization of the Undergraduate Admissions Office, strengthening minority student recruitment, telecounseling, and alumni volunteer initiatives.
Previously, Mr. Howard spent more than a decade at Ohio University as the assistant vice president for enrollment services and director of admissions. He also served as vice president for enrollment at Muskingum College (OH), as well as holding admissions and financial aid positions at the University of North Carolina at Asheville, the University of Denver (CO), Case Western Reserve University (OH), and The Ohio State University.
Associations, publications, and education: Mr. Howard has served on state committees and as a state representative to ACT. He is the author of "The Emergence of the Admissions Profession in the 1960s," published in The Journal of College Admissions. He received the Outstanding Administrator Award from Ohio University in 2000.
Mr. Howard holds an M.A. in student personnel administration from Colgate University (NY) and has completed graduate work in higher education at the University of Denver. |
