Mr. Ong is a Senior Associate and specialises in all types of structured financings, including securitisation of trade receivables, credit cards, real estate assets, auto-loans, whole businesses, master trust structures, and asset backed commercial paper conduits. In addition, Mr. Ong has actively advised on defaulted securitisations and insolvency workouts. Transactions include:
Representing The Hong Kong Mortgage Corporation in its overseas acquisitions of Korean residential mortgage assets;
Representing Bank of America in Jabil's multi-country conduit funded securitisation of trade receivables in Malaysia, France, Hungary and Scotland;
Representing Hyundai as originator in US$400m Korean auto-loan securitisation, listed on Irish Stock Exchange;
Representing JPMorgan and Royal Bank of Scotland as lead managers in Dignity's £210m securitisation. This is the first whole business securitisation of a funeral business in the UK. Listed on the Irish Stock Exchange;
Representing ING in issuance of £182.75m commercial mortgage backed securities. Listed on the Irish Stock Exchange;
Representing Capital One Bank (Europe) and MBNA Bank Europe as originators of credit card receivables in term and conduit financed securitisations. Term transactions listed on the London Stock Exchange;
Representing Landesbank Berlin in restructuring of the Check Point Charlie conduit. The restructuring was highlighted by Moody's as "one of the most innovative conduit structures in the market". Check Point Charlie combines asset backed commercial paper and CDO technology to regulate the amount of liquidity support and credit enhancement required to support its securities;
Representing Bank of America in Flextronics' multi-country conduit-funded securitisation of trade receivables in Denmark, Germany, Hungary, Malaysia and Sweden;
Representing Citibank in securitisation of electricity receivables for TXU; and
Representing several liquidity banks in various insolvency workouts on defaulted securitisations (including Parmalat, TXU, Ashtead).
