Mr. Patton has a trial practice focusing on business torts and complex commercial litigation. He has tried cases in state and federal courts. Mr. Patton has extensive experience representing plaintiffs and defendants in litigation involving workplace co-employee claims, condemnation and construction of interstate pipelines, consumer and commercial fraud, product liability, business contracts and industrial espionage. Representative Cases: Won a $7.5 million jury verdict in trial for Aviation Defense Contractor against international supplier of flight control cable. Successfully defended Coal Mining Company against civil claims and regulatory citations arising from an underground explosion causing the deaths of 13 miners. Represented Natural Gas Company through the condemnation of land for construction of 175 mile long gas pipeline from Tuscaloosa to Huntsville, Alabama. Won settlement for Security Company against claims of Industrial Espionage relating to the award of a $500 million defense contract. Successfully defended Chicken Processing Plants and plant managers against claims of workplace injury and co-employee liability. Successfully defended Apparel Manufacturer against national class action alleging false advertising and breach of warranty. Won dismissal of trade name infringement case for Alabama State bank. Won settlement on behalf of Software Designer for wrongfully withheld royalty payments. Prior To Maynard Cooper: As a Navy pilot, Mr. Patton flew 42 combat missions in Desert Storm over Iraq. In addition, he served as President of the Alabama Chapter of the Naval Academy Alumni Association. Following law school, Mr. Patton served as a law clerk to Seybourn H. Lynne, Senior Judge for the Northern District of Alabama. |
