Kevin joins Knewco as a technologist with experience in the realms of application development, system administration, web application integration, and user authentication and authorization.
Prior to joining Knewco, Kevin spent five years immersed in an academic environment in various departments at the Pennsylvania State University in University Park, Pennsylvania.
Kevin's professional start began in Penn State's Department of Crop and Soil science. Initially hired to configure a linux server with the primary purpose of running a robust graphically oriented package comprising various tools for sequence database handling and data analysis of biological organisms. This position eventually included assisting the system administrator to rebuild several Windows operating systems based machines.
This position was followed with employment by the Intercollegiate Athletics department to perform maintenance and support for 350+ desktop systems, laptops, and servers on a high bred network which included Windows, Macintosh, and Linux systems.
Most recently, he functioned as the technical lead on a project with the aim of implementing a University wide Content Management System (CMS). While developing custom applications, templates, and layouts for the CMS he was also responsible for maintaining the production services for the project including the code repository, web presence, and testing environment. In addition, his reponsibilities also included proper application of security practices such as strong encryption for passwords and integrating the CMS with the Universities single sign on system. |
