Kevin Chignell advises and represents clients in a diverse range of litigation matters in state and federal court, from defending wrongful death and serious personal injury claims to insurance coverage matters and commercial disputes.
Mr. Chignell has experience in the defense and representation of trucking and transportation clients. He regularly advocates on behalf of clients in wrongful death and serious personal injury lawsuits that result from accidents involving commercial motor vehicles. He also coordinates legal investigations for companies when their commercial vehicles are involved in accidents. He counsels clients on safety issues and helps them develop accident response protocols and crisis management guidelines which are tailored to address their specific needs. Mr. Chignell frequently presents seminars on safety issues and accident response investigations. The firm is a member of the North Carolina Trucking Association, and Mr. Chignell is an active member in that group's activities.
Mr. Chignell also represents clients in products liability matters, insurance coverage litigation, construction defect claims, premises liability cases, professional malpractice matters and mass torts claims, including the litigation arising out of an explosion at a pharmaceutical facility in Kinston, North Carolina in 2003. Mr. Chignell clerked for the Honorable William L. Osteen, United States District Court for the Middle District of North Carolina, from 1995-1996. While at the University of North Carolina, Mr. Chignell was the articles editor of the North Carolina Journal of International Law and Commercial Regulations.
