Kevin F. McKeegan is a partner of Meyer, Unkovic & Scott LLP and is Chairman of the firm's Real Estate and Banking Law Group. He works primarily in the areas of acquisition and development, commercial real estate financing, municipal zoning and zoning litigation, commercial lease transactions and tax assessment appeals. Mr. McKeegan also serves on the firm's Management Committee. He is listed in "The Best Lawyers in America," published by Woodward/White, Inc.Mr. McKeegan has represented property owners and developers in numerous zoning cases and, as a result, has argued several zoning cases before the Commonwealth Court of Pennsylvania. Mr. McKeegan has significant experience in real estate development and finance. He has represented the developers of retail shopping center complexes in the Pittsburgh area, as well as several national retail store chains seeking either to acquire sites and/or to obtain necessary local approvals for development of new projects in Allegheny County. Since 1992, he has represented the owners of a large multi-phase residential/golf course community. Mr. McKeegan has also acted as principal outside counsel for several financial institutions for commercial real estate loans in Western Pennsylvania. He has successfully tried or settled on behalf of property owners several significant tax assessment appeal cases. He has also represented major office building owners in tenant lease negotiations.Mr. McKeegan is a member of the Allegheny County and Pennsylvania Bar Associations. Since 1984, he has served as counsel for the Pittsburgh Conference on Analytical Chemistry and Applied Spectroscopy. The Pittsburgh Conference is a non-profit corporation which annually sponsors the world's largest trade show of specialized chemical equipment. Mr. McKeegan's work for the Pittsburgh Conference has involved the negotiation of leases for convention centers, contracts with hotels and other vendors as well as general corporate representation. Mr. McKeegan serves on the Allegheny County Board of Property Assessment Appeals and Review and was that board's first Chairman.Mr. McKeegan graduated cum laude from Dickinson College in 1979. In 1982, he graduated from the University of Pittsburgh School of Law where he served as Articles Editor of the Journal of Law and Commerce and was a member of the Order of the Barristers. Mr. McKeegan was also selected as a member of the law school's National Moot Court Team in 1982 |
