Kenneth V. Darish, 49, has served as a Member of the Valassis Board of Directors since June 2001, where he is a member of the Valassis Audit Committee and Corporate Governance/Nominating Committee. He has an extensive background in both finance and advertising. Since February 2005, Mr. Darish has served as the Chief Financial Officer of BBDO Windsor, Ontario, an Omnicom company. The Omnicom Group is a strategic holding company that manages a portfolio of global market leaders that includes BBDO, one of the top 10 global advertising brands. Since September 2001, he has also been the Director of Business Operations of BBDO Detroit, providing operational consulting services to the Creative Director. From September 1984 until July 2001, Mr. Darish served as the Chief Financial Officer and Senior Vice President of Foote, Cone & Belding (FCB) Advertising-Detroit. FCB, the world’s largest and second oldest advertising agency, is a subsidiary of Interpublic Group of Companies. Prior to joining FCB, Mr. Darish worked at Touche Ross & Company, providing audit and consulting services to a wide range of client companies. Mr. Darish is a certified public accountant. He graduated with honors from the University of Michigan, Dearborn and holds a Bachelor of Business Administration in Accounting. He has held memberships in the Detroit AdCraft Club, the Michigan Association of CPAs and the U.S. Olympic Committee. His financial background, knowledge of the advertising industry and firsthand experience in its consolidation, coupled with his operational expertise in the running of an ad agency complements the competencies of the Valassis Board of Directors. Mr. Darish’s experience as a CFO is an additional asset to the Board. Mr. Darish advises the financial area of the corporation and is an active participant in employee meetings and events. |
