Mr. Bowen is the firm’s Chief Underwriter for Fannie Mae DUS loans and is also responsible for the growth and management of Red Mortgage Capital’s Fannie Mae DUS Production, which has averaged over $600,000,000 a year in loan volume since Mr. Bowen joined Red’s predecessor firm in the first year that the firm had the DUS license. He has been instrumental in the development of the firm’s underwriting team and process, in the training of originators, and in the development of new lending programs. He serves on Fannie Mae’s Product Development Forum, Chief Underwriters Forum, and Multifamily Affordable Housing Forum, which he chaired in 2002/2003. He serves on various Red Committees which approve Fannie Mae loans, tax credit investments, and construction loans. Prior to joining the predecessor firm in October 1995, he was a Senior Vice President and the Chief Lending Officer for a community saving s bank in Yonkers, New York, which specialized in multifamily and commercial mortgage lending. From 1982 until 1993, his career was focused on real estate valuation with experience in New York City ’s Department of Finance, and Chief Appraiser roles at a major full service Manhattan real estate firm and the New York office of a national appraisal firm. During 10 years in the fee appraisal business he was responsible for the valuation of numerous multifamily and high-end residential properties, investment grade office buildings and regional malls, and a broad range of special purpose and mixed-use properties in New York and around the nation. He also taught appraisal courses at Baruch College and the Real Estate Institute of New York University. He was awarded the MAI designation in 1990, is a licensed non-resident real estate broker in the State of New York , and holds a BA degree from Yale University . |
