Ken Stein has represented major U.S., European and Asian companies in all areas of labor relations and equal employment opportunity law affecting their interests in the U.S. for over 36 years. His practice includes advice on critical workplace issues such as those arising during mergers and acquisitions; employment discrimination (including defamation, restrictive covenants, and negligent hire and/or retention); labor-management disputes such as those arising at the National Labor Relations Board; collective bargaining, strikes or arbitration; fair labor standards matters such as wages and hours, OSHA, FMLA and ADA; WARN; wrongful discharge; workplace violence; executive employment and separation agreements; affirmative action plans and government contract compliance; independent contractor agreements; workplace audits; and alternative dispute resolution. Ken has represented clients in a wide range of industries, such as rubber, banking and finance, retail, education, construction and maintenance, health care, law, accounting, printing and publishing, shipping, manufacturing, food, and housing. He is frequently called upon by other law firms and corporations to act as special labor counsel in labor and employment matters.
Ken lectures and writes frequently on labor and employment issues. For many years, he has been a columnist for the Lawyer-Pilots Bar Association Journal and has spoken on a wide range of topics before bar associations, and civic and business groups. Recently, he wrote "Anatomy of a Transaction: A Labor and Employment Law Perspective," for The M&A Advisor and addressed the Association of Corporate Counsel on the topic of mergers and acquisitions.
