Description of Practice:
Ken Hennesay is senior counsel in the firm's Orange County office where he practices in the Bankruptcy & Creditors' Rights Practice Group. He specializes in resolution of commercial disputes that involve financial distress, whether through bankruptcy, litigation, arbitration or out-of-court workouts. He represents all manner of clients in bankruptcy cases including secured lenders, landlords, bankruptcy trustees and examiners, unsecured creditors, various business enterprises as debtors in possession, and official creditors' committees.
Ken has assisted land developers through successful chapter 11 reorganizations and workouts to preserve equity in substantial Southern California mixed-use and residential projects. He has also obtained multi-million dollar recoveries for his developer clients through litigation in bankruptcy and arbitration. Ken represents some of the nation's largest landlords in major bankruptcy cases throughout the United States. He also represents trustees, receivers, and examiners in complex operating business cases. Ken is admitted to practice in all state and federal courts in the State of California.

Ken is dedicated to continuing legal education and is an active member of the American Bar Association; the State Bar of California; the California Bankruptcy Forum ("CBF"); Orange County Bar Association ("OCBA") ; the Orange County Bankruptcy Forum ("OCBF"); and the Financial Lawyers Conference. He currently serves as an Editor for the California Bankruptcy Journal. He is the Section Chairman for the OCBA Commercial Law and Bankruptcy Section, having served as Program Chairman in 2006, and has served on several program committees for the OCBF including the Dinner Programs Committee (1999-2001; co-chair 2001) and the Special Programs Committee (2002). During 2002-04, Ken served as a member of the California Bankruptcy Forum Judges' Panel Committee.
Educational History:
Ken earned his J.D. from Southwestern University School of Law, with honors, in 1996, after receiving his B.A. in International Relations from the University of Southern California. During the course of his studies, Ken performed a full-time externship with the Honorable John E. Ryan, United States Bankruptcy Judge for the Central District of California. |
