Mr. Chalk joined BB&T in 1975 in the Management Development Program. In 1976, he was named manager of the Loan Officer Development Program and in 1977, transferred to the Goldsboro office as business loan manager. He was promoted to vice president and named regional loan administrator in 1979. In 1981, he was promoted to senior vice president and assumed the responsibilities of manager of Business Loan Administration, serving as the bank's senior commercial lending officer. He has served as chief credit officer for the bank's commercial, retail, and mortgage lending activities since 1983.
