Ken Yee is an investment banker with over 18 years of experience in structuring and underwriting complex transactions in real estate, mortgage-backed securities and asset-backed securities. Mr. Yee also has experience in the consumer debt, financial services, and entertainment industries. Prior to joining Cappello, Mr. Yee was the president of an investment advisory company specializing in asset-backed securities, and the purchase and disposition of mortgage loan portfolios. During his tenure he has completed over $1 billion in asset-backed transactions and mortgage portfolio sales on behalf of institutions and public entities. Previously, he was a senior officer for a hybrid real estate investment trust (REIT), a founding principal of Secured Capital Corp, a real estate investment bank, and an investment banker in the commercial mortgage-backed securities department at Drexel Burnham Lambert in Beverly Hills. Mr. Yee began his career as an accountant at Ernst & Whinney (now Ernst & Young), and was a consultant at Kenneth Leventhal & Company in Los Angeles. Mr. Yee currently serves as Treasurer and Board Member of the Chartered Financial Analysts Society of Los Angeles (CFALA - http://www.cfala.org/cfmfiles/asp/gov.asp), a 1,800-member affiliate society of the CFA Institute that functions to serve the professional interests and development of its members, the majority of whom have earned their CFA charters. Previously, he served as Secretary of CFALA. He is an active speaker on behalf of CFALA, and has spoken at the Society’s annual career fair and CFA orientations. He currently teaches Ethics at Level I of the CFA Review Program and has previously taught alternative investments and accounting. Community Involvement Mr. Yee is a founding Board Member and Treasurer of CFA Society of Los Angeles Charitable Foundation, a non-profit foundation that serves to promote the financial literacy of Southern California high school students. Education Mr. Yee earned a B.S. in Business Administration (magna cum laude) with an emphasis in accounting and finance, a Masters of Business Administration, and a Masters of Business Taxation degree from the University of Southern California. He also received a Master of Science in Real Estate Development from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, and a Law degree from the University of California at Los Angeles. He is currently licensed as a California Certified Public Accountant, a California attorney, and a California real estate broker. He obtained his CFA charter in 1998. Personal Mr. Yee is an avid sports fan of professional basketball and USC football, and enjoys playing a variety of sports. |
