Kelly Alderson provides clients with a wide array of experience in public affairs, strategic communications, and international expertise. Currently, she focuses on issue advocacy, positioning work and profile building for both domestic and international clients. Since joining CLS in January of 2005, she has worked with clients including Cornell University, the Peru LNG infrastructure project, and Americans for Secure Retirement. For Cornell University, Ms. Alderson conducted an intense research project to determine how best to brand Cornell University’s College of Human Ecology in an effort to raise the College’s profile among key audiences. For Peru LNG, Ms. Alderson conducted another research project in Peru to test public opinion of the liquid natural gas pipeline that will be the largest infrastructure project ever constructed in Peru. With this research, Ms. Alderson is now working to communicate the project’s benefits to the Peruvian people through a multi-faceted communications plan. In addition, Ms. Alderson manages the development and communications of Americans for Secure Retirement, a broad-based coalition developed by CLS to raise the level of debate both nationwide and on Capitol Hill on retirement security issues in an effort to promote retirement vehicles that will provide seniors with steady income for life. Prior to joining CLS, Ms. Alderson gained valuable international, political and policy experience. Previously, she worked in government relations in Brasilia, the capital city of Brazil and on international communications at Kissinger McLarty & Associates in Washington, DC. Before joining the private sector, Ms. Alderson also managed political communications for the 2002 Anne Sumers for Congress campaign in northern New Jersey, as well as on Capitol Hill as a Legislative Assistant for Rep. Grace Napolitano (D-CA) Ms. Alderson began her policy career at the Inter-American Dialogue, a Washington-based think-tank where she focused on women’s rights throughout Latin America. Ms. Alderson received her Masters Degree from Johns Hopkins School of Advanced International Studies in Washington, DC and her undergraduate degree in Economics and Latin American Studies from Columbia University in New York City. Ms. Alderson furthered her studies at the University of Buenos Aires in Argentina. She is fluent in Spanish and Portuguese and has lived and worked in both Argentina and Brazil. |
