After receiving a bachelor's degree in Business Administration from the University of Texas in 1975, Kelly spent six years in oil company management and four years in real estate development. In 1986, when Service Group Founder/Chairman of the Board, Joseph F. Gray, prepared to retire, Kelly decided it was time to put his talents and expertise to work in the family business.
Kelly immediately set to work strengthening the service contract division. He stripped the division down to its fundamental levels and successfully rebuilt it into one of the top independent programs in our market segment. Kelly was also instrumental in leading the charge to acquire the marketing rights for Mitsubishi's Triple Diamond extended service contract program for the nation.
Kelly currently oversees and directs all the operations of Service Group, including Service Life and Casualty, Service Lloyds, Service Guard, and all real estate investments held by Service Group. A hands-on operator, Kelly maintains a connection by consistently meeting and discussing ways to improve each department's efficiency, while encouraging a work environment that is friendly and accepting of input from all levels. Simply stated, Kelly cares about his employees as if they were his customers, and that assures him success. It seems to be working.
As Service Group transitions into the new millennium, Kelly continues to challenge his management team to find increased efficiency through technology while providing outstanding customer service. As he once stated, "It is more than financial strength; it is about good people providing professional service...the best service our industry has to offer."
Kelly resides in Austin with his wife Ronda and their six children. |
