Keith V. Mabee, president of Dix & Eaton, has a national reputation as one of the country’s leading public-company communications professionals. Mr. Mabee is a member of the firm’s Leadership Committee and its Board. He joined Dix & Eaton as senior executive vice president in April 1997 and was promoted to president 18 months later.
Drawing on nearly 35 years of experience in the United States and overseas, Mr. Mabee supervises delivery of the firm's client services, staffing of the firm and its account teams, staff development, and support services and systems. He also supervises a number of the firm’s major corporate accounts and provides senior-level strategic counsel.
Mr. Mabee has extensive experience in a wide range of industries, including handling complex divestiture, LBO, and merger and acquisition actions; dealing with crisis communications from national product recalls to major plant closures; launching change management programs to support strategic initiatives; and conceiving and implementing strategic communications underpinning corporate restructuring, business development, legislative and regulatory initiatives, takeover defenses, proxy solicitations, debt and equity offerings, management reorganizations, and product and service launches.
Previously, Mr. Mabee served as vice president - corporate relations for Figgie International, Inc., where he was responsible for human resources and administration, corporate communications, government affairs, and investor relations. Before joining Figgie International in 1993, he served as vice president - communications at Industrial Indemnity, a $1 billion San Francisco-based Xerox Financial Services Company. Previously, he was senior vice president, corporate communications with AMFAC, Inc., a former Fortune 50 diversified services company based in San Francisco, where he was responsible for corporate communications, government affairs and investor relations. Mr. Mabee has also served as a communications specialist with International Paper Company in New York, a public affairs officer for NATO and the U.S. Army in Europe and the Pacific. He was a senior lecturer in the Queensland University of Technology’s College of Management in Australia and a communications consultant in Australasia.
Mr. Mabee received a master's degree in business administration from Pepperdine University, a master's degree in education with a specialty in sociology from Wayne State University, and a bachelor's degree in journalism from Bowling Green State University. He is a former president of the San Francisco chapter of the National Investor Relations Institute, previously served as an officer and director of NIRI’s national board, is chairman of NIRI’s Senior Roundtable and currently serves on the steering committee of NIRI’s Center for Strategic Communication at Dartmouth College’s Tuck School of Business. He is an accredited member of the Public Relations Society of America, and is a founding trustee and lecturer for the San Francisco Academy, a postgraduate executive development program in communications. Mr. Mabee is a trustee for the $5 billion Ohio Tuition Trust Authority and serves as vice chairman of the board’s executive committee. |
