Kathryn Pamenter Biography :

Katie Pamenter is Counsel in the firm's Bankruptcy & Creditors' Rights Group. She has represented Chapter 11 debtors in cases involving significant environmental liabilities (plan confirmed within 11 months of filing), wireless telecommunications licenses (plan confirmed within 5 months of filing), and a home products manufacturing company (plan confirmed within 75 days of filing). She has also represented the liquidating trustee of two liquidating trusts. The debtor and liquidating trustee representations included the negotiation and drafting of disclosure statements, plans of reorganization and liquidating trust documents; drafting and presentation in court of motions, objections and other pleadings; handling of omnibus hearings; preparation and negotiation of settlement agreements with insurers and claimants; review, negotiation and resolution of proofs of claim; and the coordination of internal and outside counsel as well as financial advisors. She has also tried disputed matters in bankruptcy courts including the valuation of PCS licenses. She has represented institutional lenders in out-of-court workouts, assignments for the benefit of creditors and bankruptcy reorganizations and liquidations; an indenture trustee with respect to aircraft operated by United Air Lines; a committee of unsecured creditors in a nursing home bankruptcy case; and claimants in an asbestos-related chapter 11 case. Ms. Pamenter also works closely with the firm's Litigation and Commercial Finance Groups. With the Litigation Group, she has worked on a complex lender liability action requiring significant discovery and motion practice; valuation and contesting financing hearings; guaranty suits; and appellate matters. For the Commercial Finance Group, she has represented banks and other commercial lenders in documenting, negotiating and performing due diligence for asset-based and cash-flow commercial finance transactions in both domestic and international settings. Ms. Pamenter is a member of the American Bankruptcy Institute, in which she serves as co-chair of the Young & New Members Committee, the International Women’s Insolvency & Restructuring Confederation and the Turnaround Management Association, in which she serves as co-chair of the Chicago Chapter's Women's Group. In April 2007, at the ABI Spring Meeting, she served as moderator of the two-part panel entitled, “Ready, Set, Go: A Practical Guide to Preparing and Filing a Chapter 11 Case and Surviving the `First Days’.” Ms. Pamenter is admitted to practice in Illinois and has been admitted pro hac vice in Delaware, the Southern District of Indiana, the Western District of Michigan and several other jurisdictions where she has represented her clients. She served as a law clerk to the Honorable Robert K. Rodibaugh in the United States Bankruptcy Court for the Northern District of Indiana from 1997 to July 1998. She received her law degree in 1995 from the University of Notre Dame Law School, where she served as public relations editor and a staff member for the Notre Dame Law Review, and authored "United States v. Dixon: The Supreme Court Returns to the Traditional Standard for Double Jeopardy Clause Analysis," Notre Dame Law Review (1994). She is also a sports enthusiast having competed in several marathons and triathlons, including the 1996 and 2007 Boston Marathons ™, 2005 Ralph’s California Half Ironman™ and 2003 Ironman Wisconsin™, and having summitted Mt.
