Kathleen Baugh is a managing director in the FTI Healthcare group of FTI’s Corporate Finance practice and is based in Atlanta. Ms. Baugh has 20 years of experience in healthcare operations, with specialized experience in working with physicians in implementing and managing clinical utilization and cost. Through her direct patient care and business operations experience, she assists hospital and health system clients in the evaluation and implementation of operational improvements related to clinical documentation, case management and clinical resource management.
Ms. Baugh began her professional career at the Mayo Clinic. For nearly a decade, she provided direct patient care to hematology/oncology, cardiac and ICU patients, and later became the director of decision support. During that time, she was responsible for the development and implementation of clinical cost management programs in collaboration with the Mayo Clinic’s clinical medical staff. She and her team were responsible for the development and maintenance of cost accounting and other clinical/financial information systems. Ms. Baugh instituted a case management program that focused on clinical cost containment and analysis of integrated clinical and financial information, resulting in achievement of an annual cost reduction of $6 million within eight months of implementation. In addition, she had oversight responsibility for market share and benchmarking information systems, and designed and disseminated severity-adjusted physician profiles.
Ms. Baugh began her consulting career at an accounting firm in Atlanta and was responsible for the development and launch of a consulting service line of business in Case Management/Clinical Resource Management and Decision Support. Ms. Baugh later joined the healthcare practice of PricewaterhouseCoopers (PwC), where she managed a multi-million dollar consulting services business which focused on providing operations improvement, case management, and clinical resource management advice to academic and healthcare delivery systems. While at PwC, she achieved cost reductions of approximately $11 million and documented improvements in clinical and financial operations, as well as assisted in forming strategic joint ventures.
Most recently, Ms. Baugh was a director in the Performance Improvement practice at Navigant Consulting. In addition, she was the vice president of Clinical Resource Management at Eisenhower Medical Center. She was responsible for executive oversight of case management, quality, regulatory, clinical documentation and clinical resource management.
Ms. Baugh holds a Masters in administration from University of Florida and a B.S. in nursing from Indiana University. She is a registered nurse. |
