Katherine D. Phillips was named as Vice President, Chief Compliance Officer and Associate General Counsel on March 14, 2007. She joined HealthMarkets in July 2006 as Vice President and Deputy Compliance Officer Corporate Legal. Ms. Phillips currently serves as Senior Vice President, Chief Compliance Officer and Associate General Counsel of The MEGA Life and Health Insurance Company, Mid-West National Life of Tennessee (based in Texas), and the Chesapeake Life Insurance Company. Prior to joining the Company, she provided market conduct and compliance audit and consulting services to regulators and insurers across the country as an independent consultant and as part of the Insurance Consulting practice at KPMG for more than a decade. She also served as the Commissioner of Insurance of the Commonwealth of Massachusetts, and as the Public Insurance Counsel of the State of Texas. In addition, Ms. Phillips worked for a number of years for the Texas Legislature on insurance and finance-related legislation. She holds both a Bachelor of Music Education degree and a Doctor of Jurisprudence degree from the University of Texas at Austin. |
