Karl graduated from the University of Massachusetts with a B.S. in Mechanical Engineering. Karl has over 20 years operational and engineering experience working in the semiconductor equipment industry, aircraft engine and bio-med fields for General Electric, Eaton, Brooks and Motorola. Prior to Gemesis Karl worked for a subsidiary of Motorola running operations in one of the semiconductor divisions. His responsibilities included running product test, quality and integrating existing systems into the corporate business systems. From 1991 to 2000 Karl worked for Brooks Automation, a $500 million-dollar company who designs and manufactures vacuum and atmospheric robotics, wafer handling devices inside and outside chip process chambers. While at Brooks he held senior management positions in Materials, Engineering, Manufacturing and Customer Service leading several major initiatives as the company went public and grew to over $200 million-dollars in that time. While in Customer Service Karl managed a worldwide 24 x 7 field service and technical support operation with offices in seven countries. Karl's experience include working on leading edge technology in high vacuum, lean manufacturing and six sigma. |
