Karen A. Stolz is global vice president of Human Resources for IHS. Karen joined the company in late 2003 and has built a worldwide team focused on helping the company achieve its HR strategy for growth.
She is an expert in organizational effectiveness, employee and leadership development and training as well as performance management and process improvement. She is driving corporate HR initiatives and applying her skills to address the diverse needs of a highly skilled, multicultural workforce.
Before joining IHS, Karen served as HR director for Corporate Global Functions and the Learning and Development Group at J.D. Edwards/PeopleSoft, an enterprise-planning-resource (ERP) software company. Prior to J.D. Edwards, she was employed as a senior principal consultant of the Shared Services Practice at PriceWaterHouseCoopers, where her team generated a $31 million sale of ERP financial and HR systems.
In addition to her experience in technology and financial services, Ms. Stolz has also provided human resource leadership at BP Amoco for 18 years, where she held several positions of ascending responsibility, culminating as human resources director for BP's Worldwide Financial Network. Her assignments took her to 12 countries and gave her tremendous opportunities to drive positive change in the organization. Prior to her service at BP, she began her professional career at United Banks of Colorado, as training manager for Sales and Marketing.
Karen received her bachelor's of science degree in secondary education with honors from the University of Southeastern State in Durant, Oklahoma. She was awarded her master's of Public Administration with honors from the University of Colorado. Stolz completed the Human Resources Executive Program at the University of Michigan; Finance and Accounting for Oil and Gas Managers at Thunderbird International University; and Corporate Finance and Portfolio Management at North Central College. She has received professional certificates in labor law, 360 leadership coaching, recruiting, interactive management skills, alternative dispute resolution and mediation, negotiation skills and project management.
She has given presentations on enhancing and driving organizational performance, building leadership capability and succession planning. She is a member of the Society of Human Resource Management and the Human Resources Planning Society. |
