I have been using the transcription service through a digital recorder since it was assigned a few months ago. I find it to be indeed an asset. I have used it in the following manners:1. On scene witness statements. Depending on the situation sometime witnesses are not as forth coming at a later date.2. Recording voice mail from cell phone. Including anything from threats of bodily harm to messages that refute a suspect's statement or establishes a time line.3. I have used it while taping a suspect's statement in the station interview rooms. Being that these statements are recorded, I can still up load the verbal statement and get a transcribed copy for the folder. |
