As the General Counsel at Kayak.com, Karen Klein provides legal counsel to senior management and oversight of all legal matters.
Prior to joining Kayak.com, Karen held several senior positions during her six years with Orbitz Worldwide, Inc. As Group Vice President, Legal, Karen oversaw all global legal matters impacting domestic and international websites and businesses. During this time, she completed the 2006 private equity sale and 2007 initial public offering and listing on the NYSE. In her role as Senior Counsel, Karen managed and negotiated Orbitz's major commercial transactions and provided legal counsel on development and launch of critical business units including Orbitz Merchant Hotel, Orbitz for Business, Attractions and Services, Dynamic Packaging and Tech Services.
Before joining Orbitz Worldwide, Inc. in 2001, Karen was General Counsel and Corporate Secretary for Installshield Software Corporation, a private software company, where she managed legal issues including licensing, intellectual property and export and immigration matters. Karen also negotiated e-commerce, licensing and independent contractor relationships to facilitate product and company growth.
Previously, Karen was Assistant General Counsel for Platinum Technology International, Inc., a software company specializing in IT infrastructures where she was responsible for drafting and negotiating distribution/channel licensing deals, independent contractor and consulting agreements.
Karen began her legal career in 1995 as an associate at Katten Muchin Rosenman, a full service law firm, where she was a member of the Mergers and Acquisitions and Securities practice groups.
Karen graduated from the University of Wisconsin and graduated with Highest Honors from Chicago-Kent College of Law, where she was a member of the Law Review and Order of the Coif. |
