Her industry experience includes a wide variety of clients in technology, financial services, pharmaceuticals, agribusiness, entertainment, and manufacturing. Kara is highly experienced in all phases of litigation practice. She has managed numerous internal investigations, risk assessments, and discovery efforts in numerous cases, and has extensive experience with motion practice, alternative dispute resolution, bench and jury trials, and state and federal appeals. Kara is a co-chair of the firm's electronic discovery working group. Highlights of her recent experience include: Obtained summary judgment for technology company in arbitration seeking damages in excess of $25 million Leading litigation role in the investigation, trial and appeal of a six-year, billion-dollar pharmaceutical trade secret dispute resulting in a permanent injunction. (The litigation was featured on page one of the National Law Journal.) Lead counsel for national restaurant group in trademark action, resulting in mediation and a favorable settlement Discovery counsel for internet marketing company in fraud and unfair competition class action Regional counsel for leading software companies and business associations for copyright, trademark and piracy-related matters Kara has been involved in numerous state and federal class actions and Attorney General investigations related to allegations of consumer fraud, RICO violations, and unfair competition.
