Hwang is responsible for development of corporate technology strategy and oversees the development of architectural, beamforming, signal and image processing technology suitable for hand-carried ultrasound system implementation. Hwang joined ADR Ultrasound in 1980, where he was involved in the development of the ADR 4000 system, a portable array imaging system (ADR Ultrasound merged with ATL in 1983). He served as chief scientist in ATL's Handheld Systems Business Group until its spun-off as SonoSite, Inc. in April 1998. Hwang holds 17 patents and is the author of more than 30 scientific publications and was named an ATL Technical Fellow in Perpetuity in 1988. He holds a master of science degree from the National Taiwan University, Taipei, Taiwan and a doctorate from the University of Tennessee, Knoxville, Tennessee, both in electrical engineering. |
