Juan Rodriguez is a partner in the Firm's EC Competition group. Mr. Rodriguez specializes in EC competition law and has experience advising companies involved in a broad range of industries, including: financial services chemicals media and communications IT and consulting services extractive industries pharmaceuticals Mr. Rodriguez has particular experience representing companies involved in merger review proceedings before the European Commission. He has also advised complainants on confidential matters before the EC Commission and national competition authorities in the EC. Prior to joining Sullivan & Cromwell in 2000, Mr. Rodriguez was EC Competition Law Counsel at BP plc, a role that involved advising on major transactions such as the BP/Amoco merger, BP's acquisition of ARCO and BP's intervention in the regulatory review of other mergers involving its competitors, and advising all of the BP Group businesses on day-to-day competition law matters. Mr. Rodriguez is a member of the European Competition Lawyers Forum and is EC correspondent for the Canadian Competition Record. He speaks fluent French.
