Joseph J. Buczynski joined the firm’s Intellectual Property Practice Group as a partner in January 2004. Joseph began his career in intellectual property law in 1990, and focuses on electrical, mechanical, biomedical, computer software, Internet and telecommunications technologies. His practice involves all aspects related to preparing and prosecuting patent applications before the United States Patent and Trademark Office and in international and foreign jurisdictions, as well as post-issuance patent matters such as validity, enforceability and infringement, technology licensing, patent portfolio analysis and patent litigation.
Some of the patents Joseph obtained for various clients in the electronics and telecommunications industries cover ad hoc peer-to-peer networks, broadband satellite communications networks and commercial electronics devices. Joseph has also done extensive work for clients in the biomedical field to obtain patents covering flow cytometers, centrifuges, buffy coat analyzers, assay array readers, incubators, minimally invasive blood sampling devices and analyzers, nucleic acid analyzers and Internet-based health care monitoring systems.
Before entering private practice, Joseph was an electrical engineer for Loral Control Systems.
In General. Joseph received his J.D. degree from George Washington University in 1994 and his bachelor's degree, cum laude, from Wilkes University in 1986.
Joseph is admitted to practice in Pennsylvania, Maryland, the District of Columbia and before the United States District Court for the District of Maryland. He is also registered to practice before the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office. He is a member of the American Intellectual Property Law Association. |
