Joseph F. Gaffigan of Silver Spring, Maryland, USA, was elected to serve a two-year term as a director of The International Association of Lions Clubs at the association’s 89th International Convention, held in Boston, Massachusetts, USA June 30-July 4, 2006.
Director Gaffigan is an attorney.
A member of the Suburban Lions Club since 1981, Director Gaffigan has held many offices within the association, including club president, region chair, zone chair, council secretary and district governor. Additionally, he has served as district and multiple district membership chair, leadership chair, constitution & by-laws chair and convention chair. He has served as trustee of the Multiple District 22 Vision Research Foundation, general counsel of District 22-C and chairperson of the Lions Eye Bank in District 22-C. He is currently a sector coordinator for Campaign SightFirst II.
In recognition of his service to the association he has received numerous awards, including the 100% Club President’s Award, two club Prince of Pride Awards, the District 22-C Bull Throwers Award, 100% District Governor Award, the District Governor Excellence Award, three International President’s Medals, two International President’s Certificates of Appreciation and the International President’s Leadership Award. He is a James A. McCarty Fellow, Dr. Arnall Patz Fellow and a Progressive Melvin Jones Fellow.
In addition to his Lions activities, Director Gaffigan is active in numerous professional and community organizations, including hosting Joe’s Justice, a weekly legal information talk show.
Director Gaffigan and his wife, Eileen, have one son, Robert. |
