Jonathan Crawford is an experienced and highly regarded corporate and transactional lawyer whose practice focuses particularly on cross-border mergers, acquisitions, and other organisational restructurings and joint-venture transactions.
Jonathan is also a member of Mayer Brown’s Telecoms, Media & Technology Group. In that capacity, he provides knowledgeable, in-depth counsel across a broad spectrum of telecommunications and technologies issues ranging from multi-jurisdictional project work to commercial agreements.
Prior to joining Mayer Brown in 1998 (named partner, 2007), Jonathan was a solicitor at DLA in Liverpool, UK.
Notable Engagements:
Advising The Bank of New York Mellon on its recently announced agreement to purchase ABN AMRO Bank's 50-percent shareholding in the Dutch custody bank ABN AMRO Mellon Global Securities Services BV, created by ABN AMRO and Mellon as a joint venture in 2003. Subject to conditions, including regulatory and other approvals, the transaction is due to complete in the fourth quarter of 2007 for an undisclosed sum.
Counseled Bear Stearns on the acquisition of Minster Insurance Services from Groupama UK for an undisclosed sum.
Represented Mellon Financial Corporation (now The Bank of New York Mellon Corporation) on the establishment of its £40 billion European asset management joint venture with West LB in 2006.
Served as a member of the Mayer Brown team that advised ICI plc on the sale of National Starch and Chemical Company’s US, Canadian, and European Vinamul Polymers business to Celanese. National Starch and Chemical is a business unit of ICI.
Acted for Cable & Wireless plc on the disposal of its domestic communications businesses in eight countries throughout Europe to various purchasers, including management buyout teams and trade buyers.
