John oversees Capstrat’s client services, ensuring that our teams bring the right mix of expertise and insight to each client. One of the key values John brings to Capstrat is his ability to manage the company’s greatest resource our people. That begins with recruiting people who are great at their job and great with clients. He has a talent for putting together the right team for each job. John makes things happen for clients. A natural networker, he is great at facilitating connections for clients, putting them in contact directly with the individuals and audiences that matter most. Also in charge of our economic development practice, John leads our work for Wake County Economic Development, the Greater Raleigh Chamber of Commerce, Progress Energy, Kane Realty and Stewart Engineering. He also serves as executive director of the North Carolina Economic Developers Association, the state’s leading organization for economic development professionals and allies. Previously director of community affairs for the Greater Raleigh Chamber of Commerce, John managed the Chamber’s education, quality of life and sports development initiatives. Launching the Chamber’s Sports Council, John helped create a new image for the region as a leading site for sporting events and was instrumental in bringing an NHL franchise to Raleigh. John is widely known for his public affairs expertise, drawing on a rich background in politics and government. He worked as a special assistant to HUD Secretary Jack Kemp in the office of public affairs and as deputy director of communications for the 1992 Bush-Quayle presidential campaign. He earned his bachelor's degree in political science at the University of Southern California and is also a graduate of Leadership North Carolina. Actively involved in the community, John volunteers with the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation Eastern North Carolina Chapter, Habitat for Humanity and was recently appointed a board member of Big Brothers Big Sisters of the Triangle. John also sits on the Board of Directors for North Carolina Citizens for Business and Industry and is chair of the group’s health care committee. |
