John O'Hara brings more than more than 20 years of engineering experience in both startups and established companies to his new role as Executive Vice President of Engineering. John has responsibility for all aspects of driving the product development process. In his most recent role John was an outside consultant to sentitO Networks, where he was tasked with defining both product and engineering strategy. sentitO, a provider of VoIP gateways and signaling platforms for global communications service providers was ultimately acquired by Verso Technologies. Prior to sentitO, John was Vice President of Engineering at Colubris Networks, a WLAN public access equipment company where he led the research and development organization. While at Colubris he led the team that developed a new, massively scalable WLAN switch architecture. As an executive with significant experience in starting and growing companies John co-founded two highly successful startup companies, WaveSmith Networks, a maker of core infrastructure technology for service providers and New Oak Communications, a pioneer of high-capacity remote access virtual private networking devices. While at WaveSmith, John played an integral role in establishing the company’s partnerships with Verizon Communications, SBC Communications and CenturyTel, Inc. He also helped the firm secure more than $80 million of venture funding. WaveSmith and New Oak were both acquired by Ciena and Nortel Networks respectively. |
