John Nils Hanson was Chairman, President and Chief Executive Officer of Joy Global Inc. from 2000 to 2006. Mr. Hanson joined Joy Technologies Inc. in 1990 as President of the underground mining machinery division which was acquired by Joy Global in 1995. Following several years as a theoretical low energy nuclear physicist and applied mathematician, Mr. Hanson ran a series of industrial product and capital goods businesses from 1974-1987 for several Fortune 500 companies, including Caterpillar and Gould. He also was selected as a White House Fellow in 1970 and served as Executive Assistant to the Secretary of Labor in Washington, D.C.
