John N. Cox is an associate of Dickie, McCamey & Chilcote, P.C. He concentrates his practice in the area of Asbestos/Silicosis, with an additional emphasis in Environmental Law. Mr. Cox is admitted to practice in Pennsylvania, West Virginia, and North Carolina and before the Supreme Court of the United States, various Federal courts, and United States Patent and Trademark Office. He is a member of the Pennsylvania, West Virginia, and North Carolina Bar Associations, a member of the Allegheny and Mecklenburg County Bar Associations, and a member of the Engineers Society of Western Pennsylvania, American Society for Testing & Materials, and American Institute of Chemical Engineers. Prior to becoming a lawyer, Mr. Cox was employed as a chemical engineer in the electric power industry, working for both producers and consultants. His primary responsibilities were developing methods for procuring the lowest cost fuel and preparing and using that fuel in a manner that complied with all applicable regulations and minimized operating costs. Mr. Cox graduated magna cum laude from North Carolina State University in 1980 with a B.S. in Chemical Engineering. He received his J.D., cum laude, from the University of Pittsburgh in 1992. Mr. Cox’s experience spans a broad range of representation, from publicly traded international companies to small, family-owned businesses. He has counseled corporate legal staffs, corporate environmental staffs, line management, and business owners on the applicability of local, state, and federal environmental regulations, as well as the methods for compliance with these regulations. His work in the intellectual property arena includes patent prosecution and drafting and enforcement of covenants not compete and trade secret agreements. Mr. Cox has also represented large and small business in administrative and judicial proceedings on compliance issues. He has advised manufacturers and industry trade groups on regulatory development and reform issues. Throughout all stages of representation, he strives to keep his clients advised of the risks and benefits associated with the various compliance and enforcement options. Mr. Cox lives in Charlotte, North Carolina, with his wife, Clare. |
