Mr. McGarry's practice focuses on civil litigation and medical malpractice. He has tried a variety of commercial and professional liability matters in the federal and state courts. He helped defend an international pharmaceutical/food product manufacturer against a criminal anti-trust investigation and traveled abroad to conduct a fraud investigation on behalf of a top U.S. arms manufacturer. In 1993 and 1994, while at a major Chicago law firm, he served inside the legal department of a major medical device manufacturer, supervising litigation in 28 states. Before starting private practice, Mr. McGarry had a distinguished career in the United States Marine Corps. As a judge advocate, he was lead counsel in several dozen felony trials. He received the Navy Commendation Medal for "sustained superior performance" and was an honor graduate of the Naval Justice School. Mr. McGarry's trial skills have earned him teaching appointments as a faculty member of the Chicago Bar Association's Federal Trial Bar Training Course and the National Institute for Trial Advocacy. He has published and spoken on multiple topics related to the proper defense and handling of lawsuits, trials, and depositions. |
