John L. Hopkins has served as group president of Fluor Corporation and head of the Fluor Government Group (FGG) since 2004. In this role Hopkins leads some 10 000 employees who provide value-added services to government agencies including the United States Departments of Energy Defense State and Homeland Security and the United Kingdom's Nuclear Decommissioning Authority. Additionally Hopkins is also group executive for Fluor's Strategic Planning organization reporting to the CEO. In this role Hopkins oversees the company's strategic planning function emerging markets corporate communications as well as government relations operations.
Since joining Fluor in 1984 Hopkins has held a variety of senior management sales and operations roles around the world. These positions have included group executive of Fluor Global Services; president and chief executive officer of TradeMC the capital goods sourcing venture jointly owned by Fluor and IBM; group president of Corporate Sales & Marketing Corporate Development and Project Finance; president of Chemicals & Life Sciences; and president of Chemicals Plastics & Fibers. He also has served in the company's government unit where he gained experience in managing complex government contracts and completed a two-year assignment with the North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO) in Turkey.
Active in a variety of professional and civic organizations Hopkins serves as the senior executive member of both the Fluor Netherlands and Fluor United Kingdom boards of directors. He is also a director of the Business Council for International Understanding chairman of Transatlantic Nuclear Energy Forum (TANEF) and on the board of directors of the U.S. Chamber of Commerce.
Hopkins graduated with a BBA from the University of Texas Austin and has completed several advanced management programs. |
