John H. McArthur has been a Director of AES since January 1997. He is the retired Dean of the Harvard Business School, and has been a private business consultant and active investor in various companies since prior to 1994. He is a member of the Boards of Directors of BCE Inc., Bell Canada, Bell Canada Enterprises, Cabot Corporation, HCA Corporation, KOC Holdings, A.S. Istanbul, Reuters Founders Share Company, London, and Telesat Canada. Mr. McArthur chairs the Financial Audit Committee and serves on the Special Committee of the Board (and will serve on the newly formed Finance and Investment Committee). Mr. McArthur has been designated an Audit Committee Financial Expert pursuant to Section 407 of the Sarbanes Oxley Act. The Board has determined that Mr. McArthur meets the standards of independence established by the NYSE and the Sarbanes Oxley Act. |
