John G. Russell is president and chief operating officer of Consumers Energy
CMS Energy’s principal subsidiary. Consumers Energy serves 1.8 million
electric customers 1.7 million natural gas customers and has annual revenues
of $6.0 billion assets totaling $13.3 billion and 8 000 employees.
Prior to his current position Russell was president and chief executive officer
of the electric utility. He also has served as senior vice president of electric
transmission and distribution and has held several leadership positions in
customer operations electric restructuring and materials management. During
a break in service from 1985 to 1987 Russell managed the shipping operation
for Meijer Inc.
Russell graduated from Michigan State University with a bachelor’s degree
in business administration in 1980. In 1994 he completed the Program for
Management Development at the Harvard Business School.
He is a member of the board of directors and the executive committee of the
American Gas Association. He serves on the board of the Association of Edison
Illuminating Companies; the Dean’s Advisory Board of Grand Valley State
University’s Seidman College of Business; and the boards of Grand Rapidsbased
Right Place Inc. the Michigan Virtual University and the Jackson
Community Foundation. |
