John Prominski Biography :

John E. Prominski, Jr. concentrates his practice in the field of commercial litigation before State and Federal Courts in the District of Columbia, Maryland and Virginia. He has extensive experience in cases involving commercial and real estate transactions, leases, construction, contracts, fraud, business torts, patents, intellectual property, trade secrets, employment, trusts, estates and secured creditors. His practice includes representation of business entities and individuals in commercial litigation arising from corporate and partnership disputes, real estate purchases and sales, leases, easements, construction projects, breaches of contract, commercial malfeasance and fraud, trade secrets, patent infringement, protection of intellectual property rights, disputes among estate and trust beneficiaries and enforcing the rights of landlords and secured creditors in bankruptcy and other proceedings. Mr. Prominski also devotes a substantial part of his practice in providing general legal counseling regarding commercial, real property and employment matters to business clients in the greater Washington, D.C., metropolitan area. Resident in the Tysons Corner office, Mr. Prominski heads the firm’s Virginia Litigation Group whose members focus on commercial litigation, intellectual property, professional liability, products liability, toxic torts and bankruptcy matters. Mr. Prominski has obtained significant favorable Court decisions and settlements for both plaintiffs and defendants in cases involving contract disputes, patent infringement, construction projects, commercial leases, the sale of a condominium association management business, petroleum contaminated soil, civil engineering drawings, employment discrimination, the administration and distribution of estates and trusts, non-compete agreements, inverse condemnation, the dissolution of a Baptist church and the enforcement of the rights of secured creditors in bankruptcy proceedings. Mr. Prominski’s reported decisions include Ronald Johnson v. Curtis Dworken Chevrolet, 242 B.R. 773 (U.S.D.C. 1999) (defense of employment discrimination claim), Friedman & Fuller v. Funkhouser, 666 A.2d 1298 (Md. App. 1995) (defense of non-compete claim), Washington Suburban Sanitary Commission v. CAE-Link Corporation, 622 A.2d 745 (Md. 1993) (prosecution of claim for inverse condemnation) and Prince v. Firman, 623 A.2d 622 (D.C. 1993) (dissolution of Baptist church). Mr. Prominski is active in a variety of professional and community organizations. He is a member and past president of The Barristers, a founding board member of The First Tee of Greater Washington and a member and past board member of the Rotary Club of Washington, D.C.
