As executive director for geographic development, John Lyon plays a critical role in Dow Corning’s journey to achieve its vision of enabling businesses and customers in emerging and developing economies to experience the power of silicones.
Lyon will lead activities across all business units to explore to collaborate with and support businesses through improving access to proven and innovative silicone solutions. Included in his portfolio will be India ; Eastern Europe - building on the presence started in recent years in Russia and Turkey - and ASEAN through a new office in Vietnam. Having been involved with most of the business units within the company, Lyon brings a unique depth and breadth of experience to his current position
Prior to this role, Lyon was General Manager of the Life Sciences Business for Dow Corning Corporation from 2002. Life Sciences offers innovative personal care and health care solutions, and under Lyon’s leadership, the business has grown to become one of the largest suppliers of specialties materials and products to the personal care industry. This success is attributed to Lyon’s consistent focus on uncovering new ways to solve customer problems with Dow Corning products and services.
Lyon drove the effort behind such revolutionary marketing strategies as the Experience the Difference program, which allows customers to experience the benefits of silicone firsthand through fully formulated prototype products. And under his leadership, the Life Sciences supply chain generated greater than 30 percent productivity by better aligning health care customer needs to supply chain capability.
He is credited with energizing the organization with his vision and leadership and for sustaining profitable growth of the Life Sciences business for the past five years.
Lyon joined Dow Corning in 1981 and held various positions in manufacturing and engineering, R&D and product line management, including general manager for the North American electronics commercial unit. In 2000, he was named the Life Sciences healthcare industry director and Life Sciences technology director.
He received his bachelor’s degree in chemical engineering in 1981 from University of Michigan. |
