John A. Hollinshead is senior vice president, Human Resources, for Lyondell Chemical Company. He oversees all Human Resource activities for Lyondell's global workforce, including recruiting and staffing, HR planning and consulting, labor relations, compensation and benefits.
He began his career in human resource management in 1972 with Santa Fe International, an 8,000-employee worldwide drilling, engineering, construction and diving firm. During his tenure with Santa Fe, he held Human Resource management positions in the Middle East, Scotland and the United States.
In 1976, he joined MacWilcon Onshore B.V./Semac Services, an offshore pipeline and construction joint venture between Shell, Exxon and Santa Fe as manager, personnel and administration, in Rotterdam, The Netherlands.
He joined ARCO Polymers Company in Port Arthur, Texas, in 1978 as manager, Employee/Labor Relations, and transferred to ARCO Chemical Company in Philadelphia, Penn., in 1984 as manager, Employee Relations, providing the full range of employee relations’ services to the Business, Management and Marketing organizations.
He joined Lyondell Petrochemical Company in Houston, Texas, when the company was formed as a division of Atlantic Richfield Company in 1985 as manager, Human Resources. In 1997, he was named director, Human Resources, Manufacturing and Engineering, for Equistar Chemicals when it was created by Lyondell as a joint venture with Millennium Chemicals and later Occidental Chemicals. He was promoted to vice president, Human Resources, for Lyondell in 1998 and to his current position in 2006.
