John Garland is the president and a principal for Spectrum Design. John is a professional engineer and is LEED accredited with 30 years of experience designing various types of engineering systems and managing architectural design projects for private sector and government clients. Early in his career he established a one-man engineering consulting practice that has grown into Spectrum Design, a successful A/E firm with over 35 employees. John’s specialized experience includes oversight of new construction and renovation projects, historical preservation expertise and solutions-oriented engineering design. He has a bachelor of science degree in civil engineering and a master of science degree in civil engineering from Virginia Tech. John is a member of the Society of American Value Engineering, National Society of Professional Engineers, Association of Energy Engineers, and the Consulting Engineers Council of Virginia
