John Featherman became Chairman of First Chester County Corporation and Chief Executive Officer of First National Bank of Chester County in November, 2003. Previously, he served as a director of the bank and the corporation for 20 years. Prior to assuming his current position, he was an attorney with MacElree Harvey for over 35 years (as a director for 30 years) and served as one of the managing partners for many years. A former Navy Lieutenant, Mr. Featherman graduated from Penn State University with a degree in Business Administration and received his J.D. from Vanderbilt School of Law, and his LL.M. in taxation from New York University School of Law.
Mr. Featherman is an active member of the Pennsylvania Bankers Association where he currently serves on the Member Services Policy Committee and the Pennsylvania Association of Community Bankers where he serves on the Annual Spring Directors’ Conference committee. Mr. Featherman is active with the Pennsylvania Bar Association and is a past member of the House of Delegates. He is also a member of the Chester County Bar Association, where he has served on many committees, and is a past president of the Association. He currently chairs the Chester County Bar Foundation’s golf outing committee. Mr. Featherman is a past chairman of the Chester County Community Foundation and is currently a Director Emeritus. Mr. Featherman served as the Finance Chair of the Borough of West Chester’s Bicentennial Celebration and served on the Board of the Chester County Chamber of Business and Industry. Mr. Featherman serves as a board member for BankersRe Insurance Company and the YMCA of the Brandywine Valley where he serves as Secretary and on the finance, board development and executive committees.
Mr. Featherman was awarded the 2006 Businessman of the Year Award by the Great Valley Regional Chamber of Commerce. He also received the 2006 Outstanding Citizen of the Year Award by the Greater West Chester Chamber of Commerce. John and his wife, Wiggie, received the West Chester University Medallion for outstanding leadership and exceptional service at the University’s commencement ceremonies in December, 2007. Mr. Featherman resides in East Bradford Township with his wife, Wiggie. They have three grown children, Audrey, John and Michael. Mr. and Mrs. Featherman serve as co-chairs on the Friends of the CardioVascular Center of the Chester County Hospital and The Chester County Hospital Foundation’s Capital Campaign Cabinet. Mr. and Mrs. Featherman are also leaders of the committee supporting the Performing Arts Center of West Chester University. |
