Joel focuses his practice on intellectual property matters, including the preparation and prosecution of patents, and the handling of trademark and copyright matters. He also has experience with contracts, licensing and commercial transactions. Joel is active in the American, Ohio and Columbus Bar Associations, as well as the International Trademark Association, and the American and Columbus Intellectual Property Law Associations. Prior to joining Calfee, Joel was an attorney at Chemical Abstracts Service, where he handled intellectual property matters, as well as general business transactions (including software/technology licenses, software development agreements, global sourcing agreements, and a variety of other contracts). While pursing his graduate degree at The Ohio State University, Joel worked as a research assistant in a laboratory focused on chemistry and biochemistry research and as a teaching assistant for the chemistry department. He was also a member of the Ohio State Law Journal. Joel joined Calfee in 2007. |
