Joel Heusinger has practiced law with Woods & Aitken since 1986 with an emphasis in construction law and commercial litigation. His experience includes advising and representing businesses, contractors, public and private owners, architects, engineers and surety companies in federal and state courts, mediations, arbitrations and special master proceedings. He has been involved in various aspects of litigation and alternative dispute resolution including complaint and claim preparation, case evaluation, settlement negotiation and trial presentation on behalf of each of the entities listed above. He has also worked closely with sureties and contractors in pursuing claims in bankruptcy as well as other default matters. Joel has been involved in numerous complex commercial contract disputes throughout the United States involving the management and review of literally millions of pages of documents and electronic data. He has presented numerous seminars before owners, contractors, subcontractors, engineers and architects and has assisted in preparing numerous papers regarding case management, electronic discovery, and other litigation topics. He is a member of the American Bar Association Forum Committee on the Construction Industry, and the Section on Public Contracts Law where he was Chairman of the Construction Contract Committee from 1995-1998.
