Joel Levine was elected to the CHP board of trustees in 2006. He served on the board of Mercy Health Partners - Northern Region from 1995 - 2006 and chaired the board from 1998 - 2001. Prior to that, he chaired the board of the region’s St. Vincent Mercy Medical Center from 1995 - 1996. Mr. Levine is of counsel to the law firm of Spengler Nathanson P.L.L., Toledo, Ohio. Previously, he was president of Joel A. Levine & Associates, providing business consulting services to small and intermediate-sized companies.
During 1963 - 1988, Mr. Levine served as chief legal officer, chief operating officer and co-chief executive officer of the Wabash-Lagrange Steel
Company, and his leadership was instrumental in its growth from a $3 million company to a nearly $60 million company when it was sold in 1988. He has more than 30 years of progressively responsible management experience, directing as many as 300 employees and in companies with revenues of more than $100 million.
Mr. Levine is also a trained mediator, having completed a course of study at the Capital University Law School with an emphasis on business dispute resolution. He has been a participant in labor and business arbitrations and union negotiations.
In addition, Mr. Levine serves on the boards of directors of operating companies and has been continuously active in community affairs. He is past board chairman of the University of Toledo Foundation; past board and campaign chairman for the United Way of Greater Toledo; past board member of the Toledo Jewish Community Foundation; past board president of the Toledo Community Foundation; past campaign and board chairman of the Jewish Federation of Greater Toledo; and past president of the Jewish Community Center of Greater Toledo. His recent awards include being named Outstanding Fund Raiser by the National Society of Fund Raising Executives in 1995 and Outstanding Trustee by Mercy Health Partners Northern Region in 2000, and he was the recipient of CHP’s 2002 Founders’ Award for Excellence in Governance Leadership.
Mr. Levine received both his bachelor of arts degree and J.D. degree from the University of Michigan. |
