Joe comes to The Sextant Group from one of the nation’s largest media-systems integration firms where he was a design engineer for a wide range of communication, teaching, entertainment and worship projects across the country. He is especially experienced in commissioning and testing, and was a frequently-requested trainer and instructor on completed systems. Major projects include engineering systems for medical clients such as University of Pittsburgh Medical Center, Magee Women’s Research Facility and Mylan Labs, academic environments ranging from Drexel University to the Steelcase University Training Center, and corporate environments for the likes of Highmark Blue Cross Blue Shield, Bombardier Transportation, and Buchanan Ingersoll & Rooney PC.
Hammett also brings experience installing systems, troubleshooting, testing and commissioning for a highly-respected Southeast US performance & presentation contractor. Projects include classrooms, boardrooms, courtrooms, medical labs, theatres and/or stadiums for the University of Michigan, Indiana University-Purdue University Fort Wayne, University of Oklahoma, Baylor University, Georgia Southern University, and Augusta State.
Joe created training programs for new technicians and developed Standards & Practices to be used for all installations, ensuring accurate and optimal quality of work from all installation teams, plus assisting the IT Department on phone and data networks. His background also includes work for a Washington DC area AV firm installing high-end systems for the Department of Defense, Central Intelligence Agency, Federal Bureau of Investigation, NASA, AOL, and British Aerospace.
Hammett has specialized skill in large-scale video walls and their related processors, plus theatrical curtain, lighting and sound installation, tuning and rigging, and live sound mixing. He is fluent in AutoCAD, Audio DSP, and a spectrum of specialized software and applications. Joe is an avid musician, accomplished in violin, mandolin, percussion, harmonica and the didgeridoo. |
