Executive Director of the PT Group, graduated in Mechanical Engineering and then did a Post-Graduation in Energy, at the Federal Institute of Technology in Lausanne, Switzerland. Between 1983 and 1985, he does his Masters in Business Administration (MBA) at the Stanford Graduate School of Business, in the United States.
This Professional career starts in 1979 as a Development Engineer at the turbine department at Sulzer Brothers in, Winterthur in Switzerland. Between 1981 and 1983, he takes on the functions of Chief of Projects in the Process and Systems Engineering Department of said company.
Between October 1985 and March 2005, Joćo Pedro Baptista holds various positions at Mercer Management Consulting. He is Deputy-Chairman from 1990 to 1992, heading telecommunication projects in Europe. From 1993 to 2000, he is Deputy-Chairman and Head of the Technology, Information and Entertainment Group and he founds and heads the Group in Europe. As of 1997 he also assumes the functions of Managing Director and in January of the same year he is nominated Member of the Executive Committee. In January 2000, he becomes Global Manager for the Technology, Information and Entertainment Group and in the following year, Co-Leader for the United Kingdom.
As of February 2004 he is nominated Global Head of the Technology, Information and Entertainment Group at Marsh & McLennan Companies Inc., (the sole shareholder of Mercer Management Consulting).
As of April 2005 he is nominated member of the Audit Committee of the Victoria and Albert Museum in London.
In June 2005 he is elected partner and Deputy-Chairman of Booz Allen Hamilton in London, responsible for the practice of telecommunications.
Highlight goes to the elaboration of various articles and interventions in conferences on the telecommunications industry and co-author of the book Grow to be Great, on growth strategies.
As of April 2006, he integrates the Executive Committee of Portugal Telecom and is nominated Chairman of the Board of Directors and of the Executive Committee of PT Investimentos Internacionais, and is also responsible for the development of Businesses, Convergence and Distribution Strategy of the PT Group. |
