Jim Roberts joined First Reliance Bank in February of 2005, as Senior Vice President of Operations. Mr. Roberts, who has over 12 years of banking and banking related experience, collaborates with the CEO in the overall administration of the Bank, manages the institution’s operational and technology areas and directs a significant portion of the institutions strategic initiatives. In addition, Mr. Roberts has responsibilities in the development and support of policy and procedures, risk management, budgeting, compliance, information security, product development and business banking.
Prior to joining First Reliance Bank, Mr. Roberts was Vice President of Operations for Citizens South Bank, a multi-location community bank headquartered in Gastonia, NC. The majority of his duties included managing the bank’s operational and technological areas, as well as significant involvement in all of the Bank’s key initiatives. Mr. Roberts was also responsible for bank security, facilities management, compliance, business banking, branch office support and product development. During his time with Citizens South Bank, Mr. Roberts was recognized for his outstanding performance.
Education:
Mr. Roberts is a 1999 graduate of the University of North Carolina at Charlotte where he earned a Master of Business Administration degree with dual concentrations in Corporate Finance and Commercial Bank Management. He earned a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration degree with dual concentrations in Business Finance and Commercial Bank Management from the University of North Carolina at Charlotte in 1991. Mr. Roberts has also completed numerous courses through the Institute of Financial Education.

As a new member of the Florence community, Mr. Roberts is looking forward to becoming involved in various community-minded civic and charitable organizations. As an involved member of the Gaston County, North Carolina community, Mr. Roberts was committed to the region through his continued involvement in key organizations and events. He was a regular attendee at Chamber of Commerce functions, participated with the Muscular Dystrophy Association annual fund drive, supported the Downtown Development Association and was involved with various financial institution trade organizations. |
