Jeno Staehelin Biography :

Jeno C.A. Staehelin is a member of Brock Capital Group LLC. Additionally, Ambassador Staehelin is a Special Advisor to the Minister of Foreign Affairs in Switzerland and Commissioner General of Switzerland for the World Exhibition. He is a former Captain of the Swiss Army.

From 2004 to 2005, Ambassador Staehelin was the Chairman of the Mine Action Support Group. Prior to that, Ambassador Staehelin served as the Permanent Representative of Switzerland to the United Nations from 1997 to 2004, and as the Chairman of the Board of UNICEF from 2003 to 2004. He was the Swiss Ambassador to Japan from 1993 to 1997 and the Ambassador on Special Mission to Holy See from 1991 to 1993, where he orchestrated referendum by which the people and cantons of Switzerland approved the people’s initiative for Switzerland’s membership to the United Nations.

Ambassador Staehelin worked at the Swiss Ministry of Foreign Affairs as the Assistant to the State Secretary from 1987 to 1993, and as the Minister and Deputy to the Director General for International Organisations. As Assistant to the State Secretary, Ambassador Staehelin maintained responsibility for European and North American Affairs and was in charge of seeing up a program of assistance and support to the countries of Eastern Europe in their political, economical, and social transformation.

From 1977 to 1984, Ambassador Staehelin was the Vice President for Legal Affairs and International Relations at the European Patent Office in Munich, Germany. Beginning operations in 1978, the European Patent Office grew from an institution of 200 employees to the world’s three major patent offices, granting protection for all major European countries. Prior to his position at the patent office, Ambassador Staehelin was Legal Advisor to the Swiss Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

Ambassador Staehelin has a Lic. jur. and Dr. jur from the University of Bern, as well as an LL.M from Harvard Law School.
