Jennifer Lai graduated with distinction from the University of Wisconsin-Madison in 1995 with a Bachelor of Arts honors degree in History and Political Science. After college, Ms. Lai organized low-wage garment, health care, retail, and warehouse workers for four years with Service Employees International Union, UNITE-HERE, and Laborers International Union of North America. In 2003, Ms. Lai received her Juris Doctor degree from UCLA School of Law where she was an editor of the Asian Pacific American Law Journal.
Prior to joining the Firm, Ms. Lai practiced in the litigation group of Morrison & Foerster LLP in San Diego. Ms. Lai has also worked extensively on civil rights issues in New Orleans, Louisiana, before and after Hurricane Katrina, serving as a staff attorney with the Advancement Project and the National Immigration Law Center. In 2005, she received a Distinguished Service Award from the San Diego Volunteer Lawyer Program.
Ms. Lai is a member of the California Bar. Her practice at Coughlin Stoia focuses on prosecuting complex securities class actions on behalf of worker pension funds, public retirement funds, and other institutional shareholders.
